Message from the Organizing Committee
With a consistent increase in world population, the demand for animal protein has been ever growing worldwide. Global environmental pressure for cattle rearing does not allow us increase the number of animals indefinitely. An alternate solution is maximizing the productivity of each animal in a limited population. The major constraints for improving the health and increasing the productivity of cattle today are the occurrence of postpartum diseases and declining reproductive performance.
Although nutrition and metabolism in transition periods have been known to influence the health and productivity of cows, no practical control measures to solve the problems have so far been established. Recently more attention has been paid to the involvement of immune function and genetic factors in the health and reproduction of animals. The integration of nutrition, metabolism, immune function and genetic factors could give us a clue to the development of a novel system to maintain animal’s health and productivity.
This symposium, featuring a number of world renowned experts in their relevant fields, aims to find a global approach to comprehensive cattle health and production management system. All who are interested are cordially invited to this special international symposium. Participants are encouraged to contribute a paper for a short communication session.

The organizing committee invites authors to submit abstracts related to the main theme of the symposium for oral communications (12 to 15 min. including discussion).
Submission guidelines
Length: 400 words or less including title and names and affiliations of authors.
Contents: The abstract should contain objectives, materials and methods, results and conclusions.

2014年1月11日（土）に神戸大学統合研究拠点コンベンションホールで開催します
2013年度(第45回)精子研究会・神戸大学重点研究チーム学術講演会（共催）のプログ
ラムおよび講演要旨を添付書類（MS-WORD）で送付させていただきます。
午前の部（10:25〜）では，神戸大学自然科学系先端研究融合環重点研究チーム「蛋
白質のシグナル伝達機能研究」のメンバー・関係者から始原生殖細胞，卵子などに関
する最新の知見，研究手法をご紹介いただきます。また午後の部（13:15〜）では6名
の方に精子に関する研究成果をご発表いただきます。
またお昼休みを利用して「神戸大学統合研究拠点3次元可視化画像投影装置」の見学
会を，さらに講演会終了後には懇親会を開催いたします。

9th International Ruminant Reproduction Symposium 2014 in Obihiro: Call for abstract and registration

It is with great pleasure to announce that the 9th International Ruminant Reproduction Symposium (9th RRS) will be held August 25-29, 2014 at the Hotel Nikko Northland Obihiro in Obihiro City, Hokkaido, Japan. As you may know, the RRS is the most prestigious international conference on domestic ruminant reproduction. The conference is held once every four years, with most-recent conferences held in Anchorage, USA (2010), Wellington, New Zealand (2006), The Crieff Hydro Hotel, Scotland (2002), and Colorado Springs, USA (1998). The symposium will emphasize the most current knowledge and state of the art information on topics relevant to domestic ruminants mainly. Also, it is our consensus that ruminant reproduction directly connects to Livestock Production, so that we would like to start-up the session such as “Pathophysiology and Health in Reproduction”, and “Challenges in Optimization of Reproductive Performance”.
This symposium will be held in Asia for the first time. The thirty-five invited speakers have been selected by the Sub-International Committee that consists of world-leading experts of each scientific area. We would expect 250-300 leading reproduction researchers and students from around the world. We believe this is the most effective and significant “Up-Date” opportunity for reproduction researchers in Noth America, South America, Europe, Oceania, and Asia including Japan.
Home Page has been available from November 22, 2013. Your most recent investigations are hearty welcome to poster sessions. Reviews of the talks presented by invited speakers and the abstracts presented in the poster sessions will be included in the proceedings entitled “Reproduction in Domestic Ruminants VIII”.
