Award
At the 112th annual meeting of the Society for Reproduction and Development, held in Sapporo, Japan in September, the 2019 SRD awards were presented to each winner.
SRD Outstanding Research Award
The SRD Outstanding Research Award is given for outstanding basic and applied research in animal reproduction. The SRD Award Committee has selected the following member as the winner in 2019:
Hiroya KADOKAWA (Joint Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Yamaguchi University) for “Discovery of new receptors to control LH and FSH secretions from bovine gonadotoph, and clarify their importance for animal reproduction”.
SRD Innovative Technology Award
The SRD Innovative Technology Award is given for the research which contributed to a development of innovative technology in animal reproduction. The SRD Award Committee has selected the following member as the winner in 2019:
Keiji MOCHIDA (RIKEN BioResource Research Center, Bioresource Engineering Division) for “Development of assisted reproductive technologies for preservation and production of small laboratory animals”.
SRD Young Investigator Award
SRD Young Investigator Award is given for outstanding research in animal reproduction which was performed by an exceptionally promising young investigator who has not reached the age of 40 before April 1st of the year when the award is presented. The SRD Award Committee has selected the following members as the winner in 2019:
Ryo NISHIMURA (Laboratory of Theriogenology, Joint Department of Veterinary Medicine, Faculty of Agriculture, Tottori University) for “Studies on hypoxia in the formation and regression of bovine corpus luteum”.
Fumie MAGATA (Department of Veterinary Medical Science, Faculty of Agriculture, The University of Tokyo) for “Mechanism of the negative impact of uterine inflammation on ovarian functions in dairy cows”.
SRD Outstanding Presentation Award
The SRD Outstanding Presentation Award is given for outstanding oral presentation at the annual meeting of SRD. Chair of the 112th annual meeting of SRD selected the following five members as the winners in 2019:
- Aya UCHIDA (Department of Veterinary Anatomy, The University of Tokyo) for “Functional analysis of spermatogonial stem cell niche-related factors in vivo by using a beads transplantation assay”,
- Mayuko NAGAE (Graduate School of Bioagricultural Sciences, Nagoya University) for “Identification of the gonadotropin-releasing hormone pulse generator by analysis of pulsatile luteinizing hormone secretion in arcuate-specific Kiss1 knockout rats”,
- Marimo SATO (Department of Veterinary Medical Sciences, The University of Tokyo) for “Identification of the neuronal pathway and the glucose sensor regulating the suppression of gonadotropin secretion by malnutrition”,
- Arisa MUNETOMO (Graduate School of Agricultural and Life Sciences, The University of Tokyo) for “Visualization of κ opioid receptor-expressing neurons in rat hypothalamus by lentivirus and analysis of their localization and projection”, and
- Chika HIGUCHI (Faculty of Biology-Oriented Science and Technology, Kindai University) for “Degradation of maternal PIASy after fertilization is important for maternal-to-zygotic transition”.
